Yellow Finches
I blame both my mother and my grandmother for being a closet birdwatcher. In particular my grandmother who we affectionately called “Green-Green” gave me an appreciation for noticing “the little things” in nature. Did you know that bumblebees are far more important pollinators than any other bee? I didn’t until Green-Green [...]

Blogging Star for You to See
The Curmudgeon over at Second Effort evidently thinks I’m worthy of a little more bling to hang over on the sidebar. Just like most critters with small craniums I just happen like shiny things and do collect them on occasion. Skittles’ Place initiated this award “for bloggers who [...]

Downtown Cola Town
Ben and I are excited to announce our official attendance as participating artists at EdVenture during EdCeptional Kids Month! Located in the historic mill area of Columbia, the facility is the “unofficial” children’s museum of South Carolina (the “official” museum is located in Myrtle Beach which in no way matches the exhibits [...]

Coming Down from the Mountain
We artists completed the second half of the 2007 Banner Elk (North Carolina) Mastercrafts Festival in a disappointing fashion. Sales were brisk from [...]

Before I posted yesterday’s entry I had told Ben’s nurse, Lisa, what I intended to write about. After talking about it a little while she asked if she could send the entry to a [...]

He Talks to Angels
After nearly eight years of parenting an exceptional child I’m still amazed at how much I don’t know about my child. It is a double-edged sword. I’d really like to say that most of the mysteries Ben still guards are like presents waiting under the Christmas Tree: when the [...]

It’s a Southern Thang!1. One of the best things about driving in the mountains of North Carolina this time of year are all of the roadside stands selling fresh produce, boiled or fried peanuts, canned preserves, and other goodies. I gotta say though that besides the peanuts I go for the pickled stuff. [...]

Meet Another Ben!
Or maybe more specifically, meet Mark, the other Ben’s dad. In meandering through this blog universe I’ve met some really great folks. In fact everyone I’ve encountered (other than the spammers) have really terrific stories to tell and have a wonderful talent in their ability to write about them.
As a parent [...]

The Weight
I’m a firm believer in taking time away every now and then from the pressures and responsibilities of being a parent, a spouse, and adult puts on our shoulders. One of those times in my life happened to occur yesterday. It just so happened that I was camping next to a [...]
